Frosted Front Door

I like my privacy. So I struggled having my front door see-through glass right into my home. Here are the before & after of frosting the window. I love it!! We may still replace the window in the future, but at least we’ll get some more use out of this. 

Pressure washing & Staining Week

New Upstairs Doors

We’ve been wanting to redo the upstairs doors since my in-laws house fire. Solid doors are so much safer than our hollow doors - and block outside noises better.  Projects like this are always fun because they don’t take long to stain, sand, poly and David does the hanging. 2 down, 2 more to go - and maybe some closet doors next. 😉

I’m SLOWLY working my way through my house projects. Having the kids home for distance learning kinda slowed my progress 😆, but I’m plugging along.

Sand, sand, sand. LOTS of hand sanding what the sander can’t reach.

Kitchen Projects

Our kitchen cupboards are losing their luster. The ones under the sink had a LOT of water damage.  While I did touch them up some years ago, it had to be completely stripped, sanded, restrained, and poly-ed.  I’ve finished two cupboard doors and two drawer faces so far. Putzy, but satisfying.

Crushed Concrete

Last year David removed the asphalt last spring. It was badly broken up and too thin in places. We added a few loads of class five to raise it up and level it. However it was still pretty sandy and it made a mess in the garage and house. We had 2 loads of crushed concrete brought in this wk. David spread it and level it and I threw the kids in the van and drove back & forth (and back & forth) to flatten. After the first rain and driving on it a bit more I’m hoping it’ll make for less sand in the house, good for bike riding, as well as dribbling a basketball on it!

Sunday, Oct 13th Updates

I love my blog. Sadly I’ve mostly ignored it since it became more difficult to get pictures from my phone onto the website without having to download them onto the computer first. Plus there’s no blog app any longer, so that’s an inconvenience. BUT I think google did an upgrade because I can now post pics from my phone directly to the blogger website ... so here’s hoping. I like being able to look up some of my favorite recipes or when we changed something or watch the kids grow through my blog. FB just isn’t the same.

Anyhow this pic represents our first snow of the year (thanks to “global warming”), our new motion night lights on the attached garage I’ve been wanting for a while, and the gone garage. David took this summer to take down the garage and break apart the concrete in order to lay down 12” of sand to prep for the new building. We were hoping to have the slab in place by this time, but EVERYTHING in life seems to take longer than expected.
